DTEA urges LG to pass ordinance for bringing all temples under ambit of Shrine Board

JAMMU: Dharmarth Trust employees, who are on protest for last 37 days and chain hunger strike for last 10 days, under the banner of Dharmarth Trust Employees Association (DTEA), on Wednesday urged Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to fulfill their demands of Constitution of Board for all temples falling under Dharmarth Trust on pattern of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) or bring all temples under ambit of Shrine Board.
A number of Hundreds of employees assembled in premises of Ranbireshwar Temple and other temples across Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir and raised slogans in support of their demands. Those who sat on hunger strike included Vimla Devi, Jeeto Devi, Pt Sunit Kumar, Pt Sahil Sharma, Sagar Singh, Faquir Chand, Jatinder Singh Jamwal, Parmay, Pt Bodh Raj and Pt Naresh Kumar.
Speaking on the occasion, President Vivek Bandral urged Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to resolve all issues at the earliest as demands of employees endorsed by civil society are genuine as there is a large number of temples under the Dharmarth Trust, which are either damaged or in a dilapidated condition. He asked all the employees of Trust to continue their agitation till their demands are met.
Working President, Rajinder Shastri asked Lt Governor Manoj Sinha if board for all temples under Dharmarth Trust can’t be constituted, then revoke decision of the then Governor in 1986 to constitute Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board as Shri Mata Viashno Devi Shrine is also a part of Dharmarth Trust, which was main source of income for trust. Lt Governor has the power to pass ordinance for the merger of all temples under Dharmarth Trust in Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board for proper development of temples and betterment of the employees.
Others present in the protest included ex-President Kernail Chand Thakur, Sunit Sharma, Subash, Pt Parshotam, Pt Brijmohan Sharma, Pt Om Parkash, Pt Rampal, Pt Balwant Shastri, Vimal Khajuria, Sat Paul, Pawan, Deepu, Rinku, Makhnu, Jivan, Bushan, Sonali, Renu, Anju, Sheetal, Sonika, Sukeshni, Rita Salathia, Rekha, Harbans Lal, Surjeet Singh, Parshotam Sharma, Ram Paul Sharma, Jagjeet Chand, Sahil Sharma, Pt Babu Bishambar Lal, Reeta Salathia, Raj Kumari, Leela Devi, Sheetal, Rajni, Shobha, Nisha and Sonika.
