JAMMU: Appointment of Prof. (Dr.) Shakti Kumar Gupta, a highly experienced and qualified doctor as Executive Director of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Vijaypur, Jammu is highly appreciable and will speed up functioning of the Out Patient Department (OPD) and other departments of AIIMS here in UT.
Dr. Gupta, an MBBS, MHA (AIIMS), FNAMS, FIMSA, FIHE, FAHA, MACHE (USA), Medical Superintendent Dr.R.P.Centre for Ophthalmic Sciences AIIMS New Delhi, is son of the soil and has done his MBBS from Jammu. Having earned WHO Fellowship from USA,Dr.Gupta is member of many prestigious medical institutions and was instrumental in establishment of six AIIMS in India.Dr Gupta owns to his credit over 110 research papers published in reputed National and International Journals and he has also guided more than 136 research studies. He was also responsible for standardization of Curriculum for PG courses in Hospital Administration in the country.
Raman said that Dr. Gupta, who has served as MS Cardiothoracic & Neurosciences Centre AIIMS, MS JPNATC, AIIMS & MS Outreach, OPD-Jhajjar, AIIMS and was spokesperson, AIIMS and Faculty in-charge Media centre, AIIMS for eight years is going to be an asset for AIIMS Jammu and will take the institution to new heights.
Dr. Shakti Gupta has also attended several international health care programmes and his vast experience is sure to establish AIIMSJammu at par with prestigious health institutions of the world. An expert in Hospital Management Programme, he will speed up the processes that are required to make AIIMS functional to its full capacity in Jammu. This is going to be a game-changer and willprovide to the people of Jammu, world class health facilities at their doorsteps.
Raman Suri said, the BJP leadership, especially government at the Centre, is fulfilling all its promises made with the people of Jammu in a phased manner. Once established and functional, AIIMS will reduce the burden on other hospitals and help people save time as well as money which they used to spend in taking patients to other cities for treatment.
Establishment of AIIMS, Raman Suri said, will develop the area and also create employment for the people of Jammu. Satellite towns, colonies, schools, colleges and shopping centres besides allied medical facilities and centres will all be established in the vicinity of AIIMS Jammu, thereby giving our economy a new fillip, Raman Suri asserted.
