District Rajouri Volleyball Championship begins

RAJOURI: Organised by the District Rajouri Volleyball Association under the banner of Volleyball Association of J&K (VAJK), Open District Championship got underway at Sports Stadium, here on Sunday.
In total, 13 teams, including five in girls section are taking part in this event which is sponsored by the J&K Sports Council.
Assistant Commandant 2nd IRP Bn of the J&K Police, Khalid Ameen was the Chief Guest. He appreciated the role of Volleyball association and asked the youth to take part in sports and games in a big way.
The chief guest was accompanied by Incharge District Volleyball Association and chairman of Shaheed DySP Manjeet Singh Memorial Volleyball Club, Mohd Tariq.
Earlier, the opening day of the event witnessed Aysan Club and Haricains Club reaching the boys’ final. In the semifinals, Aysan Club defeated Choudhary Club 3-0 while Haricains Bagnoti trounced Darhal Club 3-1.
Today’s matches were officiated by the technical panel including Khalid Hussain, Jameel Ahmed, Sidarat Hussain, Sajjad Majid, Farhat Jhangir, Dr Aysan and Ramiz Tariq.
The Results (preliminary round): Choudhary Club bt Kalakote 2-0 sets; Haricains bt Daramsal 2-1; Aysan Club bt Manjakote 2-0, Darha FCC bt Stadium Club 2-1.
