Directors of AAI, CHANRI call on LG Mathur



LEH: Gulzar Hussain, Director CHANRI and Abeer Gupta, Director AAI on thursday called on the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, R K Mathur.
The duo apprised the Lt. Governor about Achi Association India, a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of cultural heritage and scholars specialized in the early art and architecture of the western Himalayas and Changthang High Altitude Nomadic Research Institute (CHANRI) working in Ladakh with the mission to facilitate study, preserve, protect and promote the nomadic way of life and the high-altitude ecosystem of the Tibetan Plateau in the Ladakhi Western Himalayas.
The delegation submitted a Skill and Entrepreneurship Development Project proposal in Changthang and Kargil to document and develop innovations around the weaving of the Challi/ Phyarba to enhance livelihoods, traditional and sustainable practices and the development of new entrepreneurship models.
They informed that the project aims to focus on sustainable development of fragile eco-system and to connect families across weavers and herders.
They discussed the possibility of initiating the proposed project in 2021.
The Lt. Governor showed interest in propagating this skill and said that their proposal shall receive due consideration.
