AKHNOOR: Director Horticulture Jammu, Ram Savak, on Monday conducted an extensive tour of Akhnoor and Khour Block of Jammu District.At Akhnoor, he inaugurated the 24th Facilitation cum sale Centre at Horticulture complex. On the occasion, he informed the gathering about the importance of this centre regarding the availability of high quality planting material and value added products.He also emphasized that this centre will serve as a common platform for the farmers to demonstrate and sell their products.At Jourian, the Director also attended the “Kissan Goshti cum Training Camp” wherein a large number of farmers especially women participated.Speaking on the occasion, he made the farmers and fruit growers aware about the different schemes of the department and asked them to come forward for availing the benefits of these schemes.He advised the women farmers to avail incentives under different schemes for setting up of small fruit and vegetable processing units by forming Self Help Groups to become self reliant. During the programme, CCI Jammu, Vikas Anand also provided on the spot training for the processing of different fruits and vegetables. During the visit, the Director was accompanied by DLSMS, Sanjeev Karlupia, DHO, Vijay Angurana, Nodal Officer for Facilitation Centre, Sandeep Gupta and Horticulture Development Officer Khour, Amit Saraf.
