JAMMU: Director General (DG), Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS), Dr Saleem Ur Rehman on Thursday inaugurated the Twenty20 Christmas Celebrations Cup at KC Sports Club (KCSC) grounds, here.He interacted with the teams playing the opening match of tournament and appreciated the zeal and spirit of both organisers and the participants.The event, jointly organised by senior cricketers and KCSC, is supported by Horizon Sports Club and The Game Changer Sports Club. Rajesh Gill is coordinator of the tournament.Among prominent persons present were former Managing Director KC Sports Club, Arjun Choudhary; Vivek Suri, Faheem Tak, Amit, Rakesh Koul, Avinash Uttam, Saleem Rehman, Sanjeev Sharma and Madan Mohan.Earlier, in the opening match, Vishal Cricket Club defeated Media XI by nine wickets.Batting first, Media XI scored 120 for seven, which, in reply, Vishal Cricket Club chased in 16 overs losing one wicket.Rajesh Gill played match winning knock of 65 runs while Rohan Gill and Rakesh Koul contributed 30 and 20 runs respectively. Rajesh was later named as Man of the Match.In another scheduled match, Vridhi Royals defeated KCSC by 17 runs. Batting first, Vridhi Royals made 156 runs for four wickets. Later, KCSC could not chase and was bowled out for 139 runs in 19.5 overs. Gourav was named Man of the Match for his four wickets haul for the winning team.FIXTURE: Horizon Club shall take on Game Changers at 9:30 AM while Road and Safety shall meet Sukhdev Academy at 12:30 PM tomorrow.
