Abhishek RainaIn ending of year 2019 a ‘Monster’ (corona) came from Wuhan city of China and started threatening people and hunting them. The monster (corona) wreaked havoc in the people of city and also in whole world. Wuhan became the epic center of this monster (corona). In starting of 2020, the monster started roaming from China to other countries and started harming people. In January 2020, the monster entered our country without knocking the door and sneaked in. The monster first entered Kerala with a 20-year old female medical student who came from China after attending a seminar. After this, the monster (corona) started roaming from one place to another. The monster is so cruel and merciless. It started disturbing life of every person and hits everyone badly. This monster disturbs whole world and also our country. The monster is so cruel that he had not seen that, one is child, young or old rather also not differentiate between the rich and the poor. Royal family persons like Queen of London was also captured by this monster. This monster rotated the whole world to 180 degree in opposite direction. Due to fear of this monster the Govt had to take decision to do lockdown in whole country. The monster was so hungry that he consumed many lives all over the world to fulfill his hunger. This monster has impacted on every segment of life like commercial establishment, education, economy, transport, tourism, employment, entertainment, food and many more things. This monster had led to a dramatic loss of human life world-wide and presents an unprecedented challenge to public health, food system and world of work. The economic and social disruption caused by this is devastating. The impact of this monster on India has been largely disruptive in terms of economic activity. All most all the sectors have been adversely affected, which included largest GDP contraction, sharp rise in unemployment, stress on supply chain, decrease in Govt revenue, collapse of tourism & hospitality industry, and reduction in consumer activity, plunge in fuel consumption, rise in LPG sale, trade tension with China etc. Corona has affected a large number of students across states, class, caste, gender and region. The shutting down of schools and decision of shifting from traditional class rooms to digital platforms is not only increasing learning inequality among children, but also pushing a large nnumber of children out of school due to digital divide. Other than learning, the absence of schooling would also have a long lasting effect on the health and nutrition of children. Millions of people have lost jobs in the formal sector since April 2020 due to the economic stress caused by the monster. This monster had posed unprecedented challenge for employs worldwide. Millions of enterprises face an extinct threat. Workforce is at risk of losing them to feed themselves and their families. It also caused challenges in diagnosis, quarantine and treatment of suspected or confirmed cases, thereby increasing burden of functioning of existing medical system. Patient with other diseases and health problems were neglected. It also caused overload on doctors and other health care professionals who are at a very high risk. The other effects of the corona include overloading of medical shops, disruption of medical supply chain, impact on social activities, cancellation or postponement of large scale sports and tournaments, disruption of celebration of cultural, religious and festive events, undue stress among population, social distancing with our peers, closure of hotels, restaurants and religious places, closure of place for entertainment, postponing and cancellation of examinations. Our Govt is trying to get rid of corona and guidelines and rules have been notified for saving people. Frontline workers like doctors, police, disaster management, employees and general administration is also helping us to get rid from this monster. But we also have to take some initiatives to help our Govt to overcome from this situation. Some steps/precautions which we have to take include washing hands for at least 20 seconds, avoiding touching eyes, nose and mouth, covering mouth and nose with mask, avoiding close contact with others, maintaining social distance, using hand sanitizer, greeting people with (Namaste) instead of shaking hands. As every cloud has a silver lining, soon we will get free from this monster and live happily with our loved ones in this world.
