Declare all media houses’ workers as frontline COVID warriors: UDA

JAMMU: United Democratic Alliance (UDA), Convenor Rajiv Mahajan on Monday urged Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to declare all employees of media houses, both print and electronic, functioning in Jammu and Kashmir as Frontline COVID warriors.
In a press statement issued here on Monday, Mahajan urged Lt Governor to declare members of all media houses, working in field as well as in office, including owner, editor, sub-editors, pagemakers, photojournalists, video-journalists, hawkers, printing machine operators as frontline COVID warriors in order to cover them under risk insurance and other allied schemes of Government. “Data including names and designation of all staff members of all media houses is lying with the Directorate of Information and Public Relation office in Jammu and Kashmir,” he said adding that lists should be updated after consultations with media houses, for benefit of employees. Several other state Governments have already declared all aforesaid employees as Frontline warriors and covered their risk, he added.
