DB seeks ATR regarding framing of any scheme of flood control, improvement of Jehlum embankment

JAMMU: A Division Bench of Jammu & Kashmir Srinagar Wing comprising Chief Justice Pankaj Mithal and Justice Moksha Khajuria Kazmi, while hearing a Public Interest Litigation regarding restoration of river Jehlum and prevention plans on scientific lines, directed Additional Advocate General, appearing for the UT to submit an Action Taken Report (ATR) with regard to framing of any scheme of flood control and improvement of embankment of river Jehlum and to show how sanctioned funds have been utilized for the purpose. DB further directed AAG to seek instructions from the Commissioner Secretary, Irrigation and Flood Control Department and file a status report, in form of an affidavit to be sworn by the Commissioner Secretary himself, within a period of four weeks. In the event, Action Taken Report is not filed within aforesaid period; the Commissioner-Secretary would personally appear before the Court on the next date along with relevant records, the Court directed.
