JAMMU: A Division Bench of J&K High Court comprising Chief Justice (A) Rajesh Bindal and Justice Sanjay Dhar has directed the Government to apprise the Court about steps taken for recovery of arrears of rent, electricity and water outstanding against 72 unauthorised occupants, including ex-Ministers and other political persons. Division Bench also directed Government to indicate before the next date any rules/ regulations under which Government staff has been provided to 72 unauthorised occupants including ex-Ministers on Government expense when these occupants are not holding any public office.DB further directed Registry to list all writ petitions wherein stay orders are operating along with PIL on the next date of hearing i.e., February 18, 2021.The DB was informed that very shortly Security Review Committee is going to meet for reviewing security of Protected Persons including 72 unauthorised occupants and appropriate action will be taken against those whose security will be downgraded and it will also apply qua government accommodations. Adv Sheikh Shakeel appeared for the PIL whereas AAGs BA Dar and Aseem Sawhney appeared for government of J&K. Sr Adv MI Qadri also appeared in this case for ex-Minister A R Rather.
