UDHAMPUR: To pay tributes to martyred Sepoy Raj Kumar, who attained martyrdom on January 2, 2004 while fighting with group of terrorists at Jammu in year 2004, Naib Tehsildar Niabat Jaganoo on Monday organised a cycling competition.Local NGO Aware India Foundation (AIF) led by President Vimal Sharma along revenue staff of Niabat Jaganoo and family members of Shaheed Raj Kumar organised a programme to pay rich tributes to martyr in his native village Jaganoo on his 16th Death Anniversary.On this occasion, Chief Guest, Ashok Kumar, former Director Sports SMVDSB and Sr. Vice President SGFI paid floral tributes while mother Pushpa Devi along with Guest of Honour, Puran Chand NT Jaganoo and members of AFI, prominent citizens, youths and relatives of martyr also present.Chief Guest said that dedication, passion and spirit for daring acts and love for the nation was in his blood.He besides being a dutiful cop was also an outstanding sportsman. He saluted his mother for guidance and nurturing him with national spirit and patriotism.However in order to infuse spirit of patriotism among youth a cycling competition was organised.In open competition different aging group youths of Jaganoo participated.In senior group competition (1600 meter) Ram Verma clinched 1st, Anmol Sharma 2nd and Shivansh Sharma got 3rd position.In junior group ( 1200 meter) Krish Kumar got 1st, Sachin Sharma 2nd and Krishan Lal as 3rd. While in sub junior group 800 meter race Abhimanyu Thakur clinched 1st, Vansh Balwal 2nd and Ramashray Khajuria at 3rd position.Krishan Lal Sharma, Chief Patron of AIF and mother of martyr has distributed trophies among the winners and mementos among participants in order to boost the morale of the youths and to keep physically fit by participating in such type of sports events.The prizes disbursed by the mother of martyr along with Chief Guest. Programme was conducted by Vimal Sharma President AIF as stage secretary.Prominent among those present were Romesh Verma, Pawan Verma, Sham Lal brothers of martyr, Mohan Lal Naib Sarpanch, Ganesh Kumar Panch of Panchayat Jaganoo, Sain Dass, Vikundal Sharma members of AIF, Abhi, Kuldeep Kumar, Narinder Kumar Raina (NCC)Divya and senior citizens of town also.
