Crime Branch nabs fraudster from Reasi

JAMMU: Crime Branch Jammu has arrested a fraudster, namely Ashiq Mohd, son of Mohd Shafi, resident of Damini, Tehsil Chasana, District Reasi for luring unemployed youth on pretext of providing jobs.
As per an official spokesperson of Investigating agency, acting on a specific input, a team of Crime Branch Jammu arrested Ashiq Mohd, son of Mohd Shafi, resident of Damini, Tehsil Chasana, District Reasi in a case registered vide FIR No. 29/2019 under Sections 420, 465, 468, 471 and 120-B of RPC at Police Station, Crime Branch Jammu for his involvement in inducing and luring unemployed youth with a promise of arranging Govt jobs for them in Forest Department for monitory consideration of Rs 3 lakh each. The accused was not cooperating in investigation and was constantly on a run to evade his arrest, he added.
The official further said that a written complaint was lodged by unemployed youth of Mahore area in Crime Branch Jammu, wherein they alleged that they had applied for Class-IV post in Forest Department and came in contact with accused, who allured them with a promise of arranging them jobs and took them to one Abdul Rasheed, a very influential person who demanded Rs 3 lakh from each complainant. The accused persons cheated complainants and duped them of their hard earned money, which complainants paid in cash and through Bank transaction. Thereafter accused person handed-over to complainant fake appointment order and asked them to join Forest department but when they approached concerned office, the orders were found to be fake, he added.
“On receipt of complaint a preliminary verification was initiated in Crime Branch Jammu and during course of investigation, the allegations were prima-facie substantiated against the accused. Accordingly, case was registered under relevant sections of law for in-depth investigation. Ever since the registration of the case, the accused did not cooperate in the investigation of the case and remained at large to evade his arrest along with other co-accused by changing his locations. However, Crime Branch Jammu laid a trap for his arrest and based on a specific input, zeroed in his location in Reasi and brought him to face the investigation. The accused is being produced before Court of law for seeking his Police remand to take investigation of the case to its logical conclusion,” he asserted.
