JAMMU: Welcoming sanctioning of Industrial incentive package of Rs 28,400 cr for J&K, President Citizen’s Forum, R K Chadha said that claim regarding creation of 4-5 lakh jobs in industrial sector seems just a figure to please J&K people, as amount has been earmarked just for a period of 16 years, for 55,000 registered industrial units.
In a press statement issued here, Chadha urged Manoj Sinha to appoint some technically educated financial experts to understand deplorable condition of industrial units in J&K. “Industrial units are already running in sick or insipid conditions due to disturbed conditions of UT. During lockdown, out of 55,000 units only 5000 units were working and rest all were closed according to figures of Industry Department. Finance Ministry came out to help these units financially through banks to rehabilitate them, which proved as a big joke,” he added.
Chadha further said that growth of industrial units in UT is already dismal. From 2013 onwards, increase of industrial unit is almost negligible and so is the employment. “Records show only few thousands of employees increased in these units. How 4-5 lakh jobs will be produced without rehabilitating units is a million dollar question,” he asserted.
