CPCs sensitised on Juvenile Justice Act

Poonch: National Development Foundation in collaboration with Mission Director, ICPS and with the support of the European Union, organised a training of Child Protection Committees of ten villages of Poonch at Conference Hall Dak Bungalow Poonch. More than hundred members of CPCs were sensitised on Juvenile Justice Act-2015, ICPS and Child rights. Rajiv Khajuria, Founder Emeritus NDF and former member SCOC, Anwar Hussain Shah, Chairperson CWC, Kirpal Singh and Namarta members CWC, Sunny Kumar Manager NDF, DCPU Staff and Childline Coordinator Poonch also participated and interacted with the CPC members.
Rajiv Khajuria while interacting with the participants detailed the role of child protection committees for care and protection of children in the villages. Adding Khajuria said that the community based rehabilitation mechanism is an important component of ICPS scheme and CPC’s can play a vital role in creating a child friendly environment in the village free from child labour, abuse and exploitation. He said that children have right to survival, development, participation & protection and a coordinated effort of CPC’s, CG’s, CWC’s, DCPU’s and Childline can make children realise these rights. He also made CPC’s aware on the sponsorship scheme and called upon them to take the opinion of children in all decisions related to them. Resource persons, CWC & DCPU also addressed the queries of the CPC members.
