Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir on Monday recorded 5,394 fresh cases of coronavirus taking the infected number of persons to 4,02,596 while eight deaths due to the virus were reported in the past 24 hours-four each in the Valley and the Jammu division, officials said.
Out of the fresh cases, 2,045 were from the Jammu division and 3349 from the Kashmir division of the union territory, the officials said.
They said Jammu district recorded the highest of 1,204 cases followed by 963 cases in Srinagar district. Providing district-wise breakup for positive cases, a bulletin stated that Budgam district in the Valley reported 574 cases, Baramulla 514, Pulwama 188, Kupwara 267, Anantnag 229, Bandipora reported 252, Ganderbal 51, Kulgam 276 while Shopian district recorded 35 fresh cases.
Similarly, Udhampur district in the Jammu region reported 234 cases, Reasi 99, Rajouri cases, Doda 187, Kathua 34, Samba 71 cases,Poonch 15, Kishtwar 40 and Ramban district logged 121 fresh cases during the past 24 hours.
There are 44,609 active cases in the union territory, while the number of recovered patients was 3,53,374, the officials said.
The death toll in the union territory due to the pandemic was 4,613 as eight fresh deaths were reported in the past 24 hours.
The officials said, there were 51 confirmed cases of Mucormycosis (black fungus) in the union territory as no fresh case was reported since last evening.
Meanwhile, Ladakh in a day reported 159 fresh Covid cases, which took the tally to 24,655, while the active cases in the Union Territory stand at 1,255, officials said. The union territory has recorded 222 Covid-related deaths — 164 in Leh district and 58 in Kargil district — since the outbreak of the pandemic in 2020, they said.
No death was reported in Ladakh on Sunday, the officials said.
As many as 179 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospitals in Ladakh. The total number of cured patients is 23,178, they said.
Of the 159 fresh cases, 148 were reported from Leh district and 11 from Kargil district, they said. The number of active Covid cases in Ladakh has gone down to 1,255 — 1,044 in Leh and 211 in Kargil.
