JAMMU: Additional Sessions Judge Kathua Kamlesh Pandita rejected bail application of a narco-smuggler, namely Harjinder Singh, resident of Hoshiarpur (Punjab), from whose possession, 53 Kg and 740 gm Poppy-straw (commercial quantity) was recovered by a team from Police Post Ramkot, while checking his vehicle bearing registration number PB35Q-1459 at Dhar Road, Udhampur.
While rejecting bail application, the Additional Sessions Judge Kathua Kamlesh Pandita, after hearing both sides, observed that illegal trafficking and trade in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic substances has posed a potential threat to whole society as is eating the very vitals of the society. The release of the accused at this stage will definitely have its adverse effect on the trial. The drug traffickers like accused are spreading addiction of Narcotics & Psychotropic substances among the human race especially youth of society making them slaves of the same, who when become addicts not only spoil their lives but also ruin lives of their family members. Therefore, the release of such accused at this stage will not meet ends of justice. With these observations, the Court rejected bail application.
