Congress pays tributes to Brig Rajinder Singh

JAMMU: Jammu & Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) paid rich tributes to Brigadier Rajinder Singh (MVC), Savior of state, who was martyred on October 27, 1947 while defending J&K against Pakistan attack in Kashmir.
In a joint statement issued here, the Congress leaders said that Brigadier Rajinder Singh was a real hero who halted march of Pakistan army for over four days, which saved Kashmir. Paying rich tributes to brave soul, on behalf of entire rank and file of party, senior leaders JKPCC said that Brigadier Rajinder Singh defended motherhood till last breath and was the first gallantry awardee and recipient of MVC because of his valour and dedication towards duty. They recalled Brigadier Rajinder Singh’s bravery and devotion to Motherland, as with a small force of about 100 men, he not only inflicted heavy casualties to enemy, who was over 6,000 in number, but also succeeded in hindering movement of Pakistani invaders for over four days, till signing of Instrument of Accession J&K.
“Brig Singh sacrificed his life, setting an unparallel example of courage and patriotism, when a Chief of Army staff personally led his soldiers and defeated designs of enemy. He is the real savior of Kashmir, who was awarded first gallantry award,” they said, seeking Bharat Rattan for him in view of his unparallel contributions in defending his motherland with great valour and devotion.
The signatories to statement included Raman Bhalla, Ravinder Sharma, Yogesh Sawhney, Rajnish Sharma and Manmohan Singh.
