Dissent is the essence of democracy provided it remains within the confines of national interest and the interest of the people. When jumping redlines the dissent assumes sinister proportions. Disagreeing with the government does not mean sedition but disagreement just for the sake of disagreement on vital national issues is certainly anti-national, if not in terms of legality but in the public perception.Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is very vocal on twitter. He is fond of tweeting on issues and non-issues. The latest in the series is a tweet crying hoarse over the Indian land going to China. Taking cognizance of a news report, he lashed out at the Centre, saying “Mark my words, our land in Depsang is gone”.“China mobilised its conventional & cyber forces to threaten India. GOI bucked, Mark my words, our land in Depsang is gone and DBO is vulnerable. GOI’s cowardice will lead to tragic consequences in the future,” this is what Rahul Gandhi precisely tweeted while referring to the Daulat Beg Oldie area in Ladakh. The uncalled for tweet comes in the wake of Indian and Chinese armies reaching an agreement on disengagement at the North and South banks of Pangong lake that mandated both sides to cease forward deployment of troops in a “phased, coordinated and verifiable” manner. The selective approach of the Gandhi scion in reacting over the national issues exposes his hypocrisy over the sensitive issues of the national importance. He showed no urgency in responding to the overwhelming demand across the nation over the Memorandum of Understanding signed by the Congress on behalf of its General Secretary Rahul Gandhi with a senior functionary of Communist Party of India in 2008 on the soil of China itself in the presence of Congress President Sonia Gandhi and the then Chinese Vice-President Xi Jinping. The sensitivity of the issue can be judged by the observations of the Supreme Court of India on August 7, 2020 in a petition filed by a Delhi based advocate and Goa-based editor of an online news portal. The apex court remarked, “How can a political party enter into an agreement with China. It is unheard in law.Now that Rahul Gandhi is taking the Centre head on over the issue, he owes it to the nation to tell why the Congress entered into such MoU with the official political party of the country, which has been a chronic threat to the integrity and sovereignty of India since 1962 or even before. What scares the Gandhis to reveal the contents of the agreement. They must also tell the people, if not the BJP, why Rajiv Gandhi Foundation accepted a donation from China? China’s animosity towards India is well known the world over. Similarly, the political philosophy of Communist Party of China is not hidden from anyone, as it stands for balkanisation of the Indian nation. It wants occupation of the Indian Territory by hook and crook. The active Chinese support to rogue Pakistan has encouraged terrorists, Kashmiri separatists and now some so-called mainstream leaders to bleed India profusely. The terror acts over the past three decades and the statements emanating from India bashers in the Valley have immense influence from China.By raising fingers at the Centre in general and Prime Minister Narinder Modi in particular, Rahul Gandhi is actually demoralising the nation and putting question marks on the valour of the Indian armed forces which are standing guard in sub-zero temperatures at the most dangerous and rugged terrain on the LAC. When he uses the words like ‘cowardice’ in his tweets, Rahul directly lashes out at the valiant forces, who have offered enormous sacrifices.Indian soldiers have attained martyrdom while combating incursion by the Chinese in the Galwan Valley and the continued aggressive posture of the Chinese army along the Line of Actual Control (LAC).The Gandhis will have to come clean on the charges being leveled on funds collection from even the enemy nation like China. By holding the brief of the Dragon son of the clan is actually substantiating these charges and allegations. This is going to boomerang and doom the grand old party. The cracks have already developed with the departure of senior leaders– G23.
