STATE TIMES NEWSSUNDERBANI: Congress on Sunday demanded creation of new district as recommended by the cabinet sub- committee of Cong – NC in 2014 and additional constituency in the area comprising entire Sunderbani and other adjoining areas, in the ongoing delimitation .During worker convention at Sunderbani, resolutions were passed unanimous seeking implementation of the cabinet sub-committee recommendations of the Cong – NC of 2014 for the creation of new district comprising Sunderbani, Nowshera and Kalakote besides demanding an new assembly constituency comprising for entire area of Sunderbani sub district/additional district and other adjoining areas to meet the required population. The resolution specifically opposed any attempt to bifurcate the existing sub District /additional district jurisdiction and area in any proposed delimitation and demanded that the existing areas under the Sunderbani sub district /ADC be kept intact.The resolution was moved by the Block Congress committees of Sunderbani, Devak and Siot which was moved by prominent leader Yog Raj Sharma and unanimously passed in the presence of JKPCC Chief Spokesperson Ravinder Sharma, AICC coordinator Vichar Vibag Ashok Sharma Ex MLA , and presided over by DCC President and VC DDC Rajouri Shabir Ahmed Khan.The convention expressed serious concern over the failure of the BJP to implement the recommendations of the cabinet committee headed by the then deputy chief minister and other members of the cabinet regarding the creation of the new districts including the one for Sunderbani, Kalakote and Nowshera at appropriate place suitable to three sub divisions. For seven years the BJP government is sitting on the recommendations of the committee and failed to implement the same. It demanded immediate announcement of the new district as per recommendations of the Billoria committee especially cabinet committee.The party also demanded creations of two assembly segments in the district in view of the area and population, which is more than district Kathua having five segments, and second largest district in the Jammu province after Jammu dist, The party has submitted memorandum to the delimitation commission in this regard. One assembly segment be created for the areas of the sunderbani and surrounding areas in the proposed delimitation.The party also raised the issue of the regularisation of all daily wagers, need based and casual workers, temporary, adhoc, contractual employees without further delay.The convention also resolved to fight for the rights of the farmers who are being dispossessed of their lands under their use, and occupation for decades, that too on pick and choose basis, loot of minor minerals and depletion of water resources besides protection of the the forests and environment being illegally destroyed.The party felicitated the new block presidents and other office bearers of DCC and blocks of the party.Several prominent people joined the congress party in the convention.Addressing the gathering the DCC President and former minister Shri Shabir Ahmed Khan and Ashok Sharma besides Ravinder Sharma endorsed the demand of the people and highlighted the failures of the Centre govt and UT administration in solving the problems of the people.They lashed out at the BJP for its anti farmers, anti youth and anti employees and anti people policies.
