JAMMU: The Jammu and Kashmir unit of Shiv Sena Balasaheb Thackeray has demanded proper investigation and strict legal action against those who are play with the security of the country as it asked the Centre government to break its silence over how the sensitive information regarding the Balakote air strike carried out by India in retaliation to Pulwama terror attack was leaked to the editor of a national news channel, as revealed by his leaked whatsapp chats.
Addressing a press conference held at the party office here today, State President Manish Sahni said that the entire country is proud of the media fraternity which is known as the fourth pillar of democracy.
“But for the last few years, some journalists have proved to be a blot on the name of this noble profession by choosing their personal gains over the morals and ethics of journalism.
Now, they have stooped so low that they have been accused of compromising the national security,” he said, referring to the recently leaked whatsapp conversation between a national news channel editor and the former CEO of the viewership ratings agency Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC).
Asking the BJP-led government to break its silence over the matter, Sahni said that the centre will have to get out of dual character.
“In the name of national security, this government takes action against working journalists in Kashmir on the basis of suspicion only. In the name of national security, over a dozen journalists covering the farmers protests have been issued notices by the National Investigation Agency. But why is this government reluctant to take action against those its ‘favourite’ journalists who are playing with the national security,” Sahni asked.
Those pretending to be biggest advocates of Hindutva are actually the biggest enemies of the Hindutva, he added.
Sahni asked the Centre government to launch a proper investigation against those involved in compromising the national security and take strict legal action against those who are found guilty.
The people of the country have all the rights to know the truth, he added.
On this occasion, President Women Wing Minakshi Chhibber, Chairman Rakesh Gupta, General Secretary Vikas Bakshi, G.I Singh, Vice President Sanjeev Kohli, Secretary Raj Singh, Co-Secretary Raju Salaria, Secretary Women Wing Geeta Lakotra, Sanjeev Sudan, Dimple were present.
