Centre asks J&K to submit list of products requiring GI certification

JAMMU: The Centre on Friday advised the administration of Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir to furnish details of items which require geographical indications registration under the Geographical Indications of Goods (Registration and Protection) Act of 1999.
In a communique to administrative secretaries, J&K’s Industries & Commerce Department has written to the departments to furnish details of items which require Geographical Indications registration for sharing it with the Centre.
“it is enjoined upon all the Administrative Secretaries to furnish details of items which require Geographical Indications registration with Industries and Commerce Department, so that same is shared with the Ministry of commerce and Industry, Government of India,” reads the communique.
