JAMMU: The Crime Branch Jammu has arrested an inter-state fraudster for cheating and luring people.
As per an official spokesperson of investigating agency, the sleuths of Crime Branch arrested Harmohinder Singh, COO (Chief Operating Officer) SERA CUE LABS Pvt Ltd and Gurpreet Kour, wife of Harmohinder Singh, Director, SERA CUR LABS Pvt Ltd, both residents of 18/6-B, 1st Floor, Tilak Nagar, New Delhi in a case registered vide FIR No 15/2019, under Sections 420, 467, 468, 471 & 120-B of RPC at Police Station Crime Branch Jammu for their involvement in luring, inducing and cheating complainant for getting franchise of medical laboratory under SERA brand at Jammu and duping him of Rs 50 Lakh.
The official further said that accused were not cooperating in investigation of case and constantly evaded arrest by changing their locations for last two years. Finally, the accused were arrested to face investigation. During the investigation of the case, it was found that accused are involved in duping and cheating many people on same pretext for which 6 criminal cases stand registered against them in different States/UTs, including Crime Branch Jammu, Gurugram, Mohali and Jalandhar Punjab, Alwar Rajasthan and Vikaspuri Delhi.He further said that a written complaint was lodged by Naman Singh Bali, son of Gurdeep Singh Bali, resident of House No.90, Rolki Bakshi Nagar, Jammu, alleging therein that accused No 1 and 2, visited house of complainant and persuaded and allured him for getting franchisee a lab under SERA brand at Jammu and further told complainant that a total sum of Rs 50 lakh has to be paid for appointing the complainant as Franchise and opening medical laboratory under SERA Brand. They further said that an amount of Rs 35 lakh would be paid as Franchisee fee which would be non-refundable and Rs 15 lakh security deposit, which would be refundable. Accused further told him that SERA would give him payout of 25 per cent of total billing of Lab revenue or minimum assured return of Rs 1 lakh per month, inclusive of all taxes, whichever higher. In pursuance of aforesaid assurance given by accused, the complainant agreed for obtaining franchisee and opening Lab under SERA Branch at Jammu. On their advice, the complainant obtained a premises on rent at 41 Bakshi Nagar, Jammu. Gurpreet Kour further represented that she is the Chief Operating Officer and authorised signatory on behalf of SERA to enter into agreement. Accordingly, an agreement was executed between the company through Gurpreet Kour and complainant which has been duly registered by Sub Registrar-IV (2nd Addl Munsiff), Jammu. In pursuance of aforesaid agreement, the complainant paid an amount of Rs 50 lakh on different dates, the official said, adding that accused were produced before the Court of law and their Police remand has been sought for further investigation of case.
