Broken roads, non-functional streetlights irking Channi Himmat residents

Dear Editor,
We, the residents of Channi Himmat are suffering a lot due to broken roads, non-functional streetlights and potholes. We do not allow our children to come out during evening as there are no streetlights and it is unsafe to move out with the lane in pathetic condition. In absence of street-lights commuters meet with accidents during late evening and at night. Several complaints were made in the past but all fell on deaf ears of concerned authorities.
It is surprising that nobody in JMC is bothered about non-functional street lights. Residents, especially senior citizens and children, face inconvenience during late evening and night hours due to darkness in streets. Poorly-lit streets or those without any lighting pose a danger to citizens, especially women and arrangement those who do not use any mode of transport. Women who have no option but to pass through such stretches, take each step with a fear lurking in their minds. At most of times, their guiding light is torch of their mobile phones or headlights of vehicles passing-by.
Non functional streets-lights are dangerous for residents. A well-lit street would reduce fear besides making the street welcoming for women and senior citizens.
Through your esteemed daily, I would like to request the concerned authorities to kindly look into the matter and do the needful so that we can move freely without any fear.
Shilpa Gupta,
Channi Himmat.
