A night view of illumination works done by J&K Tourism Department last year on the eve of Maha Shivratri at Purmandal delivered a good message in the world of religious tourism. This year again, as the festival of Maha Shivratri followed by Somavati Amavasya is drawing close, in order to give a major boost to religious tourism, through the medium of your esteemed daily, I would like to request J&K Tourism Department for making necessary arrangements for illuminations as done last year, besides organising a big event on lines of Shiv Khori and Mata Vaishno Devi shrines, in Purmandal with wide publicity in print / electronic media so that the shrines of Purmandal and Utterbehni can also get their due place in the religious tourism map of the country. Further, I would urge all devotees to maintain sanctity of the Shrines at all costs.
