KATHUA/AKHNOOR: Police on Sunday foiled bovine smuggling bids by rescuing 20 bovines and arrested 6 smugglers.
As per details, a team from Police Post Basantpur led by Inspector Sikander Singh laid a Naka at Basantpur and intercepted a canter (UP11T-1074) coming from Lakhanpur via Magar Khad towards Basantpur being driven by Hajur Din, son of Gulab Din, resident of Ghatti, Tehsil Kathua along with accomplice namely Mashoom Ali, son of Kaku, resident of Dinanagar (Punjab) for checking.
On thorough checking of vehicle, 14 bovine animals were found laden in it without any legal permission and were rescued on spot. A case vide FIR No. 08 /2021 under section 188 of IPC and 11 of PCA Act was registered in Police Station Lakhanpur.
Meanwhile, a party from Police Post Jourian, Muthi stopped a load carrier (JK14C-1742) and found it laden with 2 bovines, which were rescued. In this regard, a case vide FIR No. 13/2021 under section 188 of IPC, 11 of PCA Act was registered and accused persons namely Muneer Hussain, son of Maqbool (Driver) and Mohd Gafar, son of Ismail; both residents of Mawa, Tehsil Sunderbani were arrested.
Further, a party from Police Post Chowki Choura stopped two Mahindra load carriers (JK11B-2072 and JK2020TR-7230H), which were found laden with 4 bovines.
In this regard, a case vide FIR No. 14/2021 under Section 188 of IPC, 11 of PCA Act and 15/2021 under sections 188 of IPC, 11 of PCA Act were registered and accused persons namely Abdul Sakul, son of Gh Mohd, resident of Channi Parat and Mohd Azam, son of Abdul Hussain, resident of Pouni were arrested. The operations were carried out under supervision of SHO Akhnoor Insp Ravi Parihar and SDPO Akhnoor Varun Jandial.
