Bovine smuggling bid foiled; 9 cattle rescued


KATHUA: District Police in its continued efforts to eradicate menace of bovine smuggling from society, succeeded in foiling a bovine smuggling attempt, under jurisdiction of Police Station Rajbagh and rescued 9 bovines besides seizing vehicles involved in the crime.
As per details, a team of Police Station Rajbagh led by Insp Bhupinder Singh SHO Rajbagh under supervision of SDPO Border Sachit Mahajan while on Naka checking duty, noticed two Mahindra Load Carriers (JK08F-7141 and one without registration number) moving towards Jammu. The team signaled the vehicles to stop for checking. On seeing Naka party, drivers stopped their vehicles far behind Naka point and managed to flee. On checking, police found 4 bovines from a vehicle and 5 bovines from another, which were brutally tied with ropes in a cruel manner and were transported without any legal permission. Cases vide FIR No. 78 and 79/2021 under Section 188 of IPC and 11of PCA Act were registered at Police Station Rajbagh.
