Bootlegger arrested with illicit liquor; drug peddler slapped PSA

SRINAGAR: Police in its recent action drug dealings and illegal activities have arrested a bootlegger in Sopore and recovered illicit liquor from his possession. Meanwhile, a drug peddler was booked under PSA in Ganderbal.
In Sopore, officers at a checkpoint established at Dangiwacha intercepted a vehicle bearing registration No JK05D-0236, driven by Tariq Ahmad Khan, son of Hussain Khan, resident of Rampur Uri. During search, officers were able to recover illicit liquor from his possession. He was arrested and shifted to Police Station Dangiwacha where he remained under custody. The vehicle used in the commission of crime was also seized. Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 28/2021 under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Dangiwacha and further investigation is under progress.
In Ganderbal, a huge cache of contraband substances was recovered from a drug peddler identified as Shamaas Din Lone @Shaba son of Mehraj- U- Din Lone resident of Duderhama, Ganderbal against which cases vide FIR Nos 99/2013, 202/2013 and 126/2018 already stand registered at Police Station Ganderbal. Accordingly, the investigation of the cases was completed and the arrested drug peddler was booked under PSA after obtaining sanction from the concerned authorities.
