BJP Govt failed to secure security, economic survival of border dwellers: Bhalla

STATE TIMES NEWS

RAMGARH: With the threat of coronavirus looming large and intense shelling by Pakistan, villagers living along the Line of Control (LoC) and International Border (IB) in Jammu are struck between the devil and the deep sea.
Pakistan has targeted villages and army posts along the LoC and IB in the union territory killing and injuring several people besides damaging several houses.
This was observed by former Minister and senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla while campaigning in favour of party candidate Adv. Jagpreet Kour from Ramgarh-C at Panchayats Channi Fatwal Dug and Nanga.
Adv. Jagpreet Kour is a daughter of Martyr Late Avtar Singh a recipient of President’s Award for gallantry services.
Prominent among those present on the occasion include Babal Gupta, Tirth Ram Bhagat, Manjeet Singh Billa, Aijaz Choudhary, Santokh Singh, Suman Choudhary, Vijay Choudhary, Sarpanch Vimla Kumar, Kalli Kumar and Jaddeep Singh.
Bhalla said that false promises held out by the BJP dispensations at the Centre and in Jammu and Kashmir and their dismal failure to deliver have led to the people of this border area facing immense hardships.
Notwithstanding the tall promises such as doubling the income of the farmers and measures for the safety, security and economic survival of the people living in the border villages and towns, made by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi down to local BJP leaders, nothing has happened on ground.
Former Minister said that the people of border areas are facing double hardships on account of unprovoked firing and ceasefire violations by Pakistan and the failure of the ruling dispensations to ameliorate their lot.
Asserting that it’s the people who live within two km from the border who suffer the most, he said, “These people, mostly farmers without land rights, have lost vast tracts of agricultural land to growing military infrastructure in the past few decades. Its mostly these people who are first line of defence at the border. They become the first victim of Pakistani shelling and bullets.”
