JAMMU: Union Minister of State for Finance and Corporate Affairs Anurag Thakur on Wednesday reiterated the BJP’s resolve to steer Jammu and Kashmir on path of development with thrust on raising infrastructure to ensure quality education to youth.
In an exclusive interaction with STATE TIMES, Anurag Thakur, who is also in-charge of the ongoing elections to District Development Councils in the Union Territory said the Centre, under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has already put Jammu and Kashmir on the ‘highway of economic growth. Concerted efforts are being made to undertake holistic development and to ensure investment for growth and economic stability, he added.
“We have ensured integration of Jammu and Kashmir with the Atmanirbhar Bharat vision of the Prime Minister”, Thakur said and referred to the immense faith reposed by the people in Narendra Modi. People have trust in the Prime Minister because they firmly believe, ‘Modi Hai Toh Mumkin Hai’, he maintained. The Union Minister elaborated on efforts being made on developmental and infrastructure front, saying the establishment of IITs, IIMs, IIMS and AIIMS will open up new opportunities and avenues for the youth in terms of higher and professional education. The aim is to ensure career advancement of young talented boys and girls of Jammu and Kashmir. The expansion of infrastructure and time bound investment will open up new avenues of employment for the educated unemployed, he added.
To a question on Gupkar Alliance, Anurag Thakur said, “Gupkar Alliance and other parties have always neglected development and avenues of higher education for the youth because they worked only for their vested interests”. For the past seventy years, they did nothing except exploiting people of Jammu and Kashmir, he added.
He said the only development of the ‘Gupkar Gang’ has been their own lavish estates and accumulation of wealth. While the children of Jammu-Kashmir suffered due of lack of basic amenities, the children of Gupkar Gang and separatists lived lavish lifestyles abroad, he said adding, “But now this will not be tolerated”.
The Union Minister said, “We are investing in educational infrastructure because we believe in investing in the future of the youth. J&K is crucial to economic strategy and growth of India. The Centre is keen for ensuring holistic development in this part of the country”.
Dwelling upon the DDC elections, Thakur said, “It is our collective responsibility that in these elections the BJP wins with overwhelming majority to ensure peace, prosperity and progress of Jammu and Kashmir”. He said the people have decided to reject and discard the few families who have done nothing for them”. Self interest has been their single motivation all these years, he added.
