JAMMU: Amid simmering anger over the hesitancy in announcing 126th birth anniversary as holiday in Jammu and Kashmir by the Union Territory Administration, various socio-political organizations on Thursday celebrated the occasion with enthusiasm across Jammu region.The major event was a massive rally carried out by Yuva Rajput Sabha (YRS), wherein some youths were seen carrying arms and swords in the city. The rally, which passed through various market-places and landmarks of the Temple City, despite intermittent downpour culminated near Maharaja Hari Singh’s statue at Tawi Bridge.A symbolic gathering was organised by Yuva Rajput Sabha under the leadership of its President Rajan Singh (Happy), which was attended by a number of members of Sabha including Senior Vice President-Mandeep Chib and other office bearers. Others present on the occasion included Rajinder Singh, Rajveer Singh, Sandeep Singh, Sumit Singh, Raghubir Singh, Zorawar Singh, Vikramjeet Singh, Bhanu Pratap and Vasu Dev Singh.Speaking on the occasion, Maharaja Hari Singh’s grandson Vikramaditya Singh, said, “Our demand for this day to be marked as state holiday remains unequivocal.”All Party Migrant Coordination Committee (APMCC) also paid tributes to Maharaja Hari Singh on occasion of his Birth Anniversary. Advisor to LG, Farooq Khan hailed Maharaja Hari Singh’s for the social reforms, introduced by him.Addressing another function, where Advisor was the Chief Guest, he congratulated Dogra Sadar Sabha (DSS) for celebrating the birthday of Late Maharaja Hari Singh and urged people to work for promotion of Dogri language, culture and rich Heritage of this Duggar Land.Earlier, Thakur Gulchain Singh Charak, President, Dogra Sadar Sabha said that Maharaja Hari Singh’s declaration in his coronation speech, to provide Justice to all irrespective of caste, creed or faith, was a sterling testimony to his people-centric ideology and policies.Prominent among those who attended the function included Colonel Karan Singh Jamwal, Maj Gen G S Jamwal, G A Khawaja Addl. Gen Sec. DSS, Ajay Khajuria Retired DC, Brig M.S. Jamwal, Col. V.K. Sahi VrC, Maj. Gen. Sunita Kapoor, Jagmohan Sharma, Uma Katal, Samar Dev Singh Charak, Syed Amanat Ali Shah, Ramesh Gupta President Central Mahajan Sabha, Seema Sehgal and Madan Rangila.J&K High Court Bar Association Jammu also celebrated Birth Anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh in J&K High Court. The celebration was held under the Chairmanship of M.K. Bhardwaj Sr. Adv. President J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu. The other office bearers of the Association, namely M.P Singh Palli Adv. Vice President, Surjeet Singh Andotra Adv. General Secretary, Aditya Sharma Adv. Joint Secretary, Amandeep Singh Adv, Treasurer besides many senior & young members were also present on the occasion.Highlighting contributions of Maharaja Hari Singh, Bhardwaj appealed to the Lieutenant Governor for declaring 23rd September as Gazetted Holiday.Chamber of Traders Federation paid rich tributes to Maharaja Hari Singh. On this occasion Mayor Chander Mohan Gupta was the Chief Guest and Dy Mayor Purnima Sharma was the Guest of Honour. Narayan Singh Ex President Amar Khatriya Rajput Sabha and Zorawar Singh, Chairman Team Jammu were the Special Guests. Earlier, a large number of trade leaders and prominent citizens offered floral tributes to Maharaja at Hari Singh Memorial Park.Recalling enormous contributions of Maharaja in formation of a just and progressive society, Neeraj Anand, President CTF, said that Maharaja was a true reformer and way ahead of his times in thoughts and deeds. Prominent among others present were Attar Singh, Raman Gupta, Shiv Gupta, Ravi Gupta, Devinder Gupta, SK Gupta, Dinesh Gupta, Tushaar Mahajan, Ajay Gupta and Parag Abrol.A motorcycle rally was organised by former MLA of Udhampur Balwant Singh Mankotia on birth anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh which started from Jakheni.Dharmarth Trust paid glorious tributes to Maharaja Hari Singh on his 126th Birth Anniversary in an impressive programme held at Shro Raghunath Temple. On the occasion, Ajay Gandotra, President J&K Dharmarth Trust along with members of J&K Dharmarth Trust Council paid floral tributes to great Maharaja amidst chanting of Vedic Mantras. While paying tributes to Maharaja Hari Singh on his birth anniversary, Chairman Trustee Dr Karan Singh and Trustees of J&K Dharmarth Trust Yuvraj Vikramaditya Singh, M K Ajatshatru Singh, Martand Singh and Ranvijay Singh, in their message, urged Government to announce a public holiday on the Birth Anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh as a sign of respect and honour.
