Bike-lifters active in New Rehari area, number of bikes stolen within week

JAMMU: Incidents of lifting of bikes and scooties are reported quite often from New Rehari area, as almost ten bikes and scooties have been lifted from the area within a week but none of the thefts has been solved so far.

A bike-lifter captured on CCTV while stealing a motorbike (JK02AL-1416) from New Rehari area on Tuesday evening.

As per reports, on Wednesday, the bike-lifters stole a motorcycle bearing registration number JK02AL-1416, belonging to one Sanjay Sharma, which was parked on road-side in New Rehari. A complaint has been lodged by the owner of bike with Police Chowki Rehari in this connection and CCTV footage of theft, showing thief stealing the bike as the direction in which he went, was also provided to the Police. The owner, after finding bike missing, started asking nearby people and nearby motorcycle workshops but got no clue. The people in these workshops said that there are frequent thefts of vehicles in this area and within a week’s time about 10 bikes have been lifted.
