KATHUA: On fourth day of its special event series, District Administration on Friday organised ‘Half Marathon’ to intensify its campaign under ‘Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav’ celebrations.
SSP Kathua R.C Kotwal flagged off the 22 km Half Marathon which evoked an overwhelming response from the people of all walks of life. More than 150 male and female runners turned up at GDC for Women; the starting point of the Half Marathon.
Speaking on the occasion, the SSP said the events like half marathon or other sports activities launched by district administration were aimed at mobilizing youth and engaging them in healthy activities.
Earlier, SSP Kathua along with participating athletes visited the Photo Exhibition and paid floral tribute to the freedom fighters. District Youth Services and Sports Officer Sunil Kumar and staff members of DYSS department were also present.
The runners passed through the main town areas and reached Keerian Gandyal Bridge, ending their 22 km run at Government Degree College for Women, Kathua.
