Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav: DDC Chairman inaugurates photo exhibition, cultural bonanza



Kathua: The five day special events under ‘Azadi ka Amrut Mahotasav’ by Kathua district administration started with great patriotic zeal, wherein District Development Council, Chairman Kathua Mahan Singh presided over the inaugural day events held in the premises of Government Degree College for Women, Kathua on Tuesday.
The Chief Guest Mahan Singh (DDC Kathua) along with DC Kathua Rahul Yadav inaugurated a ‘Photo Exhibition’ organised by Regional Outreach Bureau, J&K Region portraying different facets of Indian freedom movement.
Speaking on the occasion, the DDC Chairman Mahan Singh said the ‘Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav’ is a great opportunity to learn the spirit of nationalism from the rich contributions of our freedom fighters.
DC Kathua Rahul Yadav said the motive behind the ‘Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav’ programme was to instill the spirit of nationalism among people and to look for innovative ideas of development to make India lot more progressive socially and economically.
President MC Kathua Naresh Sharma, President MC Nagri Anil Singh Andotra also spoke on the occasion.
Earlier, various solo and group performances on patriotic theme were presented by Cultural Unit of DIPR, Jammu, GHSS Budhi, GHSS Jakhbar and Cultural Troupe of Regional Outreach Bureau, J&K besides a Fancy Dress Competition on the theme of Female Freedom Fighters under ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ initiatives of ICDS Kathua was presented which got thunderous applause by the audience.
The chief guest also gave away trophies to the participants.
