JAMMU: Veteran Congress leader, former Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha besides former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Ghulam Nabi Azad is set to address public rallies in the Pir Panchal region, comprising border districts of Rajouri and Poonch.
The impressive and massive public participation in the rallies in the Valley besides Kishtwar, Doda and Ramban districts has galvanised the cadre across the Union Territory, which has prompted the managers of the Congress to fix the rallies in Poonch and Rajouri in the renewed mass outreach programme of the party.
Political observers see the pro-active mass contact programme of Ghulam Nabi Azad as resurgence of the loyalist camp of the Congress, which see a hope in the former Chief Minister to fill the leadership vacuum in the Union Territory.
“The vision and political philosophy of Ghulam Nabi Azad will not only bail out the Union Territory from the ongoing political uncertainty but also be a source of enthusiasm in the dormant Congress rank and file”, say those watching the J&K scenario closely. They are keenly observing the political moves of Azad, who is catching the imagination of people in his new Avatar.
At the first leg of his tour to the twin border districts, Ghulam Nabi Azad on Tuesday evening met the party workers in Nowshera and Rajouri town, soon after his arrival and had a detailed interaction with them. He was on way to Poonch district.
