BARAMULLA: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Baramulla in collaboration with Sewa Bharti organized an awareness programme on doubling farmers’ income here on Saturday.
On the occasion, District Development Commissioner Baramulla, Bhupinder Kumar was the Chief Guest.
The main aim of the programme was to make farmers aware about strategies and interventions to double farmers’ income and entrepreneurship development in the agriculture sector among youths. An exhibition and live samples on technologies developed in the field of temperate horticulture by the central institute of temperate horticulture was also installed.
The DDC Baramulla urged to adopt scientific practices of farming and processing facilities for self employment of youths with support of different central and Union Territory Government Sponsored Schemes for the direct benefits of farmers.
Kumar performed Go Pujan and inaugurated Go Grih as part of Integrated Farming System of KVK in presence of Dr. D B Singh Director ICAR-CITH and Dr Manoj Kumar Senior Scientist and Head KVK. He also distributed vegetable seed kits and plants of improved varieties to the participants.
Earlier, Dr D.B Singh, Director welcomed the guests and briefed about research achievement of ICAR-CITH for the benefit of farming community.
Dr Manoj Kumar presented the activities undertaken and future plan of KVK for farmer welfare of the district.
The representative of Sewa Bharti and about 80 farmers, farm women and youths were present in the programme.
