JAMMU: Acharya Shri Chander College of Medical Sciences and Hospital (ASCOMS) in collaboration with Mission Humanity First, organised a Cancer Awareness Programme at Government Girls Higher Secondary School (GGHSS) Miran Sahib.Addressing the gathering, Dr. Surbhi Kudyar from ASCOMS said that it is the responsibility of society to raise awareness so that maladies like cancer can be eradicated.“Every step taken in the direction of raising awareness against cancer will lead to a major change in society”, she added.She said that the cancer incidence rate among people has grown during the last 10 years. She said that timely diagnosis has helped the people to live normal life.She also explained about the various common types of cancers, importance of early detection and the advancement in technology like the robotic surgery and how it help in treating cancer very effectively.Principal GGHSS Miran Sahib, Mussarat Jabeen, staff members and students were present in the programme. Principal was also honoured by the Mission Humanity First team for her excellent services.
