Army assisting in ‘holistic growth of girl child’



RAJOURI: Army has undertaken initiatives to assist BPL girl students of Palma, Rajouri district of J&K. Indian Army at Palma sponsored school uniforms, books and stationery to these girls. Majority of students enrolled at Govt Middle School hail from the economically weaker sections. There is a requirement to ensure holistic growth and protecting girl child.
The aim is to provide equal opportunities for education to all. Girl child education is promoted to prevent early marriages of them.
Measures are being taken to empower girls with skills and increase their income generating capacity.
The school Principal strongly emphasized on changing the mind set of society by generating awareness and community mobilization. The women in India, have excelled in various fields like politics, sports, education, business, etc. An educated and empowered woman is an asset to the society.
Various Govt schemes which are available for upliftment of girl child were also explained to the audience. At the end of the function community pledge was recited for “Girl Child Empowerment”.
