SRINAGAR: Cross-border infiltration has been a cause of concern, but all attempts of pushing militants into India are being foiled, Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh said here on Friday.In recent times, infiltration attempts have increased from the Rajouri-Poonch and Kupwara-Baramulla side and “our forces are capable enough to tackle such attempts”, he said.“Cross-border infiltration has been a cause of concern, but all attempts of pushing terrorists in our side are being foiled. Every terrorist infiltrated is being neutralised and forces are keeping a watch on such activities,” the DGP said.Singh was speaking at the Police Headquarters here during the prize distribution function of the 32nd Police-Public Mela-2020.He said good police-public rapport has brought dividends and by involving the people of Jammu and Kashmir in various activities and in youth engagement programmes, “we have a strong bonding”.The DGP said the involvement of people, especially the youth, in different sports events at police station, district, range or zonal levels has helped in maintaining normalcy in the Union Territory.Singh said that organising Civic Action Programmes and Police Community Partnership Group meetings with the common people has played a very important role in restoring and prevailing peace here.He said the current situation in Jammu and Kashmir is far better than what it used to be.The DGP J&K said that under the aegis of PWWA Chairperson and its members the Police Public Mela which once started as a small activity has gained a significant place in terms of healthy relations between J&K Police and public.He said that every year the Mela was organized twice but due to COVID-19 it could not be organized in 2020 in the way that used to be but still we managed to organize raffle draw because tickets were already sold out.In his welcome address ADGP Hqrs. PHQ M K Sinha thanked the DGP J&K, PWWA Chairperson and its members for gracing the function.AIG Welfare/Communication PHQ Manoj Kumar Pandit conducted the proceedings of the function.The presentation function was attended by Chairperson PWWA Dr. Rubinder Kaur, Spl DG Crime J&K, A. K. Choudhary, ADGsP S. J. M. Gillani, Dr S. D. Singh Jamwal, M. K. Sinha, Shri Danesh Rana, Sunil Kumar, IGsP Vijay Kumar, Alok Kumar, DIG Sunil Gupta, DPT J&K, Mushtaq Ahmed, PWWA members Archana Chowdhary, Palavi Gillani, Shabnam Mir, and Suma Sinha, AIGs of PHQ and other gazetted officers of PHQ.The DGP, ADGsP, IGsP, PWWA members, AIsG and other Gazzetted officers distributed the prizes.First Prize Maruti Suzuki Ciaz was presented to Balbir Singh. Second prizes Wagon R cars were presented to Abdul Hamid, Gulzar Ahmad Wani and Feroz Ahmad Begh. Third prizes Alto 800 cars were presented to Jigmat Stobgya, Mohd. Ibrahim and Mohd. Ishaq. Likewise fourth prizes Motor Cycle TVS Sport 100cc were presented to Manzoor Ahmad, Reyaz Qadri, Firdous Ahmad, Manzoor Ahmad and Rameez Ahmad. Fifth prizes Mi full HD Smart LED (55”) were presented to Ab. Hamid and Gh. Hussain Mir. Sixth prize Voltas High Wall Spilt AC ( Hot & Cold) was presented to Firdous Ahmad. Seventh prize of HP Laptop Quad Core 15.6″ HD was presented to Shahid Ahmad. Eighth prize of LG Convection Oven was presented to Raja Begum and tenth prizes of Samsung Refrigerator 192 ltrs were presented to Sarshad Hussain and Reyaz Ahmad.
