REASI: Department of Agriculture organised an awareness programme cum farmer fair at Dehyote Block Pouni as well as at PWD Dak Bungalow Sungri on Monday. The events were organised to make farmers aware about the Soil Health Card scheme and use of micro nutrients in the soil health management . About 150 farmers participated in each of these programmes.
First programme was held at Dehoyte Block Pouni under the chairmanship of Kewal Sharma DDC, Pouni and was presided over by Ravindar Thaploo, Chief Agriculture Officer, Reasi while other programme was held at P.W.D Dak Bunglow Sungri under the chairmanship of Sajra Qadir, DDC vice chairperson District Reasi
Amit Sharma District Agriculture Officer, Reasi I/c Soil Testing Laboratory while initiating the discussion at Panchayat Dehoyte Block Pouni spoke on the role played by micro nutrients, growth promoters in improving Soil Health and enhancing the crop productivity. He also said that the scheme aims to provide a basis for addressing nutritional deficiency in soil.
Ravindar Thaploo, Chief Agriculture Officer, Reasi while speaking on the occasion gave a detailed account of effect of micronutrients on the healthy plant development, he also gave a brief account of different schemes being implemented by the department of agriculture for the welfare of farmers in the district. He advised all the farmers to ensure to get their soil tested at Soil Testing Laboratory, Reasi for optimizing the use of Soil nutrients. He also stressed on shifting to organic farming as a way for better soil management.
Sajra Qadir, DDC vice chairperson District Reasi speaking at Sungri appreciated and complimented the Agriculture Departments initiative & its informative session .
Similar sentiments were expressed by Kewal Sharma, DDC, Pouni who also suggested that a similar programme should be conducted by the department of agriculture at village level to update the farmers on the latest scientific farming.
Also spoke on the occasion, Guldev Raj, Sub Divisional Agriculture Officer, Reasi who provides the information to the farmers on maintaining the nutrient status through better management of the soil by adopting recommendations on the appropriate dosage of nutrients to be applied for improving soil health and its fertility
Officers/Officials present include Narinder Sharma, I/c Agriculture Extension Officer, Pouni Omesh Gupta SMS (SDL), Vikram Singh , AEA at Dehyote and Dara Singh, AEO, Rishi Mahajan,AEA, Sunil Khajuria, AEA , Mohinder Pal, AEA Varinder Kumar, AEA at Sungri apart from other officers/ officials from the department of agriculture.
