ADGP Jammu reviews COVID-19 containment measures, security scenario in Poonch



POONCH: Addl DGP Jammu, Mukesh Singh visited Poonch on Friday to review COVID containment measures initiated by police. He appreciated the efforts of district police for getting all personnel vaccinated in time, thereby restricting the spread of coronavirus among force.
Addl DG also convened a meeting of senior officers to review functioning of district police besides taking stock of law and order situation in the district. The meeting was also attended by a number of officers from civil administration. Among the initiatives of officers, Addl DG took note of record building of police stations, efforts to speed-up pending investigation of cases, measures to implement CCTNS project, arresting absconders and tracing missing persons etc. On the occasion, a number of proposals were also submitted by SSP Dr Vinod Kumar for improving police infrastructure in the border district.
Addl DG specially lauded effective implementation of lockdown and enforcement of COVID protocols. He was informed by the officers that more than 130 cases have been registered and around 3,000 persons have been fined for violating COVID protocols.
Later, Mukesh Singh held an interaction with religious heads and civil society members at Dak Bunglow Poonch. While interacting with locals, the ADGP said that as per his earlier experience, the civil society of Poonch had always been cooperative with police in maintaining law & order. ADGP further urged them to advise people of their respective areas to stay indoors and restrict themselves only to essential service matters. Together, he said, we will be able to beat the second wave of corona successfully.
The members of civil society, while assuring Addl DG of full support in implementation of COVID restriction, expressed full commitment in maintaining communal harmony, peace and amity in the area. They highly appreciated the police role during the COVID crisis and suggested some measures for further containing the spread of virus. They also highlighted some demands on behalf of people of district, which Addl DG assured for fulfilling within the shortest possible time.
Prominent among those present in the meeting from civil society included President DGPC Prof Narinder Singh, President SDS Satish Sassan, Adv Rajinder Singh, Adv Mohd Zaman, President Beopar Mandal Sunil Gupta, Moulvi Mohd Farooq, Taj Mir and Moulana Farooq Misbai.
