JAMMU: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Rajouri, on Thursday produced charge-sheet against accused in-service public servant namely Sub Inspector Suresh Sharma, son of Parshotam Kumar, resident of Saran, Gho Manhasan Tehsil Marh District Jammu, the then IC/PP Rajouri City before the Court of Special Judge Anti-Corruption Rajouri in FIR 02/2019 registered under section 5(1) (d) read with section 5(2), 4-A of J&K PC Act Samvat, 2006.Brief facts of case are that on September 9, 2019, a complaint was received in the office of SSP (PR) ACB Jammu from one Ajay Pal Singh, son of S. Karnail Singh, resident of Sant Market Jammu regarding demand of bribe from him by SI Suresh Sharma IC/PP Rajouri City for helping in investigation of a false case registered in Rajouri. The maternal uncle of complainant namely Sharanjit Singh, son of S Kartar Singh, resident of Sant Market Jewel Chowk Jammu was arrested by the aforesaid SI.The complainant visited PP Rajouri City on September 5, 2019 and enquired the matter from SI Suresh Sharma, who demanded Rs 3 lakh, as bribe from him for helping his uncle during investigation of the case.After negotiation, SI Suresh Sharma agreed to accept Rs 1 lakh as advance and rest of the amount would be paid to him after bail out of Sharanjit Singh. On the receipt of the complaint, FIR 02/2019 was registered and a trap team was constituted, which laid a successful trap. The accused SI was caught red-handed while demanding and accepting gratification of Rs 1 lakh in presence of independent witnesses and trap team members. The accused person was arrested on the spot. Thereafter, he was released on bail granted by Court. Investigation conducted by the Anti-Corruption Bureau proved the allegations of corruption charges against the accused.After completing the investigation of case, sanction for launching of prosecution of the accused was also obtained from the competent authority and Anti-Corruption Bureau J&K produced charge sheet against him before the Court of Special Judge Anti-Corruption Court Rajouri. The next date of hearing has been fixed for August 10, 2021.
