Absconder nabbed after 11 years


REASI: Within a time frame of two months, Reasi Police has arrested16th absconder on Saturday.
As per details, a team from Police Station Bhawan (Katra) arrested an absconder Ankush Sharma, son of Kartar Chand Sharma, resident of Akhli Bhutan, Tehsil Katra, District Reasi who was absconding in a case registered under FIR No. 01/2020 under Sections 379, 201 of IPC at Police Station Bhawan after committing a theft in 2020.
Thief Ankush Sharma is a habitual offender, used to do larceny and pilferage on track of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi holy shrine and steal valuables of pilgrims. The accused has also stolen mobile phone costing Rs 10,000 and Rs 20,000 cash, amounting to total Rs 30,000 from Manokamna Bhawan. Accused evaded arrest and investigation by going underground and couldn’t be apprehended since registration of case FIR in 2020 as he shifted to Leh without leaving footprints of his movement. It took more than 18 months for Reasi police to pick clues, trace and nab the thief Ankush Sharma.
By pain-staking planning and coordinated efforts, after tracing accused by repeated raids, Police chased the accused and arrested him from Panthal road near AJ International Hotel Katra. A warrant under Section 512 of CrPC was issued by Court, Katra against accused. This was the second arrest of an absconder by Sub Division Katra and 16th by Reasi Police in last two months.
