Abrogation of Article 370 was in the interest of Nation but due to lack of leadership in Jammu, the people are taking it as anti-Jammu. Post August 5, 2019, students and youth in large number were expecting major reforms in employment sector and minority rights for Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, Christians etc. But unfortunately, post abrogation period proved more disastrous for youth and students, so far.
R K Chadha, former State Treasurer PDP and President Citizen’s Forum: Article 370 was an Aladdin’s Chirag for Kashmir and curse for Jammu. This was the general thought. But now as Jammu lacks leadership and people in Jammu are not getting any benefits, they are feeling being dejected and being cheated.Kashmir got all benefits in the garb of special status by virtue of Article 370 but for Jammu there were only lolly pops.Same thing is happening again. Jammu needs due care and due share. Compare the high-class infrastructure in Health, Educational and Civil facilities in Kashmir with that of Jammu, which are only crumbs.Tourism sector for Jammu was a mere excuse. After August 5, 2019, there is no development on ground even in Tourism sector. When we and when our leaders will wake up.We never heard of any Kashmiri leader demanding development proposals for Kashmir during time of Article 370, as that were automatically provided in abundance to them but in Jammu we always begged for mere necessary development infrastructure, which was never given.Abrogation of Article 370 was in the interest of Nation but due to lack of leadership in Jammu, people are taking it as anti-Jammu.
Er. Sandeep Rathore, Social Activist: Abrogation of Article 370 was not that indispensable because somewhere it was acting as special status for folks of J&K. It was beneficial in various disciplines such as land, jobs, education, public welfare etc. On the other hand, the eradication of 35A was important because it was an atrocious clause for various communities of erstwhile State. The clause was intentionally inserted into Article 370. Now, the new land laws notified recently by Centre Government are also forcing homogeneous community of J&K to lose their land in same way they are losing their jobs. So elimination of Article 370 was not important, it has just making life of indigenous peoples hard. Moreover, it is also making their survival and earnings detrimental.
Atul Sudan, Vice President, Jammu Joint Students Federation: The abrogation of Article 370 was much needed medicine to curb long growing cancer of anti-nationalism in Jammu & Kashmir since October 26, 1947. Of course it was a temporary provision which was misused a lot by Kashmir-centric parties especially against youth and students of Jammu region. We were denied minority rights, there was gender inequality and lot more. After August 5, 2019, students and youth in large were expecting major reforms in employment sector and minority rights for Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, Christians etc, but unfortunately post abrogation period was more disastrous for youth and students. Initially cancellation of J&K Banks exams, then mass corruption and bungling in Fire and Emergency Services selection list and more than anything was Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha’s appeal to Kashmir-based terrorists for shunning violence whit a promise of job for them. Nationalist youth were in hope that justice will be delivered to them but till now all in vain. Despite all that youth and students are awaiting mushrooming of private sector including industrial packages, industrial incentives, 50,000 jobs and lot more for them.
