900 students study in four rooms at Sunderbani college: Ravinder

Sunderbani: Former MLC and Chief Spokesperson JKPCC Ravinder Sharma on Saturday expressed solidarity with 900 students of Govt Degree college Sunderbani who share four rooms for study in shifts,due to delay in the completion of college building.
Sharma visited the college and expressed concern over the hardships being faced by 900 students due to non – completion of the college building, sanctioned in 2011. The site of the building was arbitrarily changed from Kathanu to new site, besides lack of funds causing delay putting thousands of students to great hardships over the years. The students explained their hardships due to non availability of Space and other facilities for a college besides non availability of even art subjects, lack of adequate security environment putting girl students to fear and harassment besides problem of drinking water. Sahil Khajuria, Sidarth Kumar and Jyoti Devi also spoke on the occasion and narrated the students issues.
Sharma also appreciated the college staff for performance of their responsibilities in the limited space and facilities. Sharma lashed out at the government for such an inordinate delay in the construction of the building an educational institution and demanded early completion and shifting of the college to new building. He also asked the civil and police administration to take immediate notice of other problems highlighted by the students.
