STATE TIMES NEWSBATOTE/NAGROTA: Cracking down on trade of bovine smuggling, Ramban police seized five vehicles and rescued 39 bovines on Wednesday. These vehicles, while on their way from Jammu to Srinagar, were stopped at Nashri Naka for routine checking and were found to be loaded with bovine animals in very congested and unhygienic manner, subjecting the animals to cruelty. Furthermore, the vehicles carrying the bovines without any proper permission and in contravention of 188 of IPC were seized at the Naka on national highway in district Ramban. In this connection, FIR Nos 52, 53, 54,55, 56/2021 under Sections 188 of IPC and 11 of PCA ACT were registered at Police Station Batote, and investigation was set into motion.Meanwhile, Nagrota Police has rescued 35 bovines at Ban Toll Plaza Naka. Three vehicles bearing (JK02W/2867, JK02A/7442 and JK02S/9513) have also been seized. In this regard, three FIR Nos. 225226 & 227/2021 under relevant sections of law were registered in Police Station Nagrota. The accused, identified as Muneer Ahmed, son of Abdul Rashid, resident of Mazmoo Anantnag; Sher Ali, son of Main, resident of Kana Kasa Reasi and Liaqat Ali, son of Mohd Shafi, resident of Seri Khurd Nagrota, were arrested on the spot. The overall arrest and recoveries were made by SHO Police Station Nagrota Insp Mohd Showkat under supervision of SDPO Nagrota Parupkar Singh.
