62 bovines rescued, 7 smugglers held



UDHAMPUR: Police on Monday foiled a bovine smuggling bid by rescuing 62 bovines and arrested 7 smugglers.
As per details, based on reliable information regarding bovine smuggling, a party from Police Station Udhampur led by Insp Vijay Singh Choudhury SHO laid a Naka at Thard area for checking of vehicles. During checking, police intercepted 7 bovine smugglers, who were trying to smuggle 62 bovines by foot. Police also seized two vehicles (JK02BW 1969 and JK02CG 9128) which were also being used by smugglers for illegal transportation of bovines towards Kashmir without any valid permission. A total of 62 bovine animals were rescued and bovine smugglers namely Mohd Mirza, son of Hussain Ali, resident of Kheri Udhampur; Mohd Arif, son of Mohd Ramzan, resident of Kheri Leddy Udhampur; Zoori, son of Mohd Shafi, resident of Thard Bali Udhampur; Mohd Bashir, son of Fateh Mohd, resident of Thard Udhampur; Mohd Saleem, son of Mohd Ramzan, resident of Kheri Laddey Udhampur; Saddam Hussain, son of Mohd Sharief, resident of Bailoo Tehsil Larnu Anantnag Srinagar at present Flata Udhampur and Nasir Ahmed, son of Gulab Din, resident of Kanga Gandri Ramban were arrested by the Police. Cases under relevant Sections of law were registered at Police Station Udhampur and further investigation is underway.
