61 bovines rescued, 6 vehicles seized

SAMBA/NAGROTA: Police on Saturday foiled four attempts to bovine smuggling by rescuing 9 bovines and seized six vehicles.
As per details, acting on reliable information, a party of police post Rajpura led by Chowk Incharge Sunil Dutt while performing checking duty in Rajpura area, signaled a Load Carrier without registration number to stop which was coming from Kathua side and moving towards Valley. On seeing police, driver accelerated the speed of the vehicle and crossed Naka point. On being chased by cops, the driver abandoned the vehicle few meters away from the Naka point and managed to escape from spot taking advantage of darkness. During checking of vehicle, 4 cattle were found laden inside it which were rescued. In this connection, FIR No. 216/2021 under section 188 of IPC and 11 of PCA Act was registered at Police Station Ghagwal.
Similarly in another incident, a party of Police Station Ghagwal led by SHO Ghagwal Inspector Rakesh Sharma rescued 5 more bovines at main Chowk Ghagwal which were being transported in a Mahindra Bolero (JK08B/4980) coming from Kathua and moving towards valley. In this connection, a case FIR No. 217/2021 under section 188 of IPC and 11 of PCA Act was registered at Police Station Ghagwal.
Meanwhile, in a massive drive against bovine smuggling, police rescued 52 bovines including 46 at a Naka near Khanpur Nagrota by Nagrota Police and 6 from different Nakas near Gedda by Manwal Police Manwal. Four different vehicles (JK02CQ-1123, JK02V-3887, JK02AP-7318) were also by seized by Nagrota police while vehicle (JK02BU 4542) was seized by Manwal police.
In this regard, FIR Nos. 458 & 459/2021 under sections 188 of IPC and 11 of PCA and FIR No.460/2021 under sections 188 of IPC and 11 of PCA were registered at Police Station Nagrota. The recoveries were made by SHO Nagrota Inspr Vishav Pratap Singh and Incharge Police Post Manwal PSI Ayub Khan under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Parupkar Singh. The overall operation was done under guidance of SP Rural Sanjay Sharma. Further investigation of the case is going on.
