JAMMU: The five-day National Folk Dance Festival concluded in Jammu with a gala performance by the tribal artists from across India.On the concluding day, a cultural event was organised in Samba district.Sarpanch S.P Salathia was Chief Guest on the occasion.A colourful cultural programme was also staged by the different dance groups which was appreciated by the audiences and said that such programmes further allow the cross-cultural integration of the people of the country. The festival was organised by North Zone Cultural Centre, Patiala (Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India) and Jammu & Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture & Languages, Jammu which was inaugurated by former Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta on December 26 last year. Cultural events was organised at Jammu, Reasi and Samba district. Artists from Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Odisha and Punjab participated in the festival and showcased their talent.Artists from Rajasthan performed Chakri dance. From Tripura, Liibangh dance form was performed. From Assam, Bihu dance. Team Madhya Pradesh performed Norta, Maharashtra performed Koli and artists from Odisha performed Dalkhai dance.The festival was part of efforts to bring together tribal artists from different regions of the country and encourage them and ensure that arts forms are showcased to the people.
