4G ban extended in J&K till Feb 6

JAMMU: The government on Friday issued an order for the extension of the ban on high-speed internet services 2G in J-K till February 6, 2021.
The order issued by the Home Department reads “The internet speed shall be continued to be restricted to 2G, except the districts of Ganderbal and Udhampur, where mobile internet connectivity shall be continued to be made available without any speed-related restrictions.”
“The postpaid SIM cardholders shall be continued to be provided the access to the internet, whereas, these services shall not be provided to the pre-paid SIM cardholders unless veri- fied as per the norms applicable for post-paid connections,” it stat- ed. The order further reads that the internet connectivity shall be continued to be made available, with Mac-binding.

“The aforesaid directions shall be effective from January 23, 2021 and remain in force till February 6, 2021, unless modified earlier,” it said. The order added “The IGsP, Kashmir/Jammu shall communicate these directions to the service provider forthwith and ensure their implementation in letter and spirit.”
