SAMBA: Police on Saturday foiled attempts to smuggle bovines by rescuing 45 bovines and arrested a bovine smuggler in two separate incidents under jurisdiction of Police Station Ghagwal.
As per details, acting on reliable information regarding smuggling of bovines towards Valley, a party of Police Station Ghagwal laid a Naka at NH Tapyal and intercepted a Canter (HR55X-8549) which was coming from Kathua side and heading towards valley. During checking of vehicle, a total 28 bovines were found laden inside the vehicle, which were rescued. The accused driver identified as Yaqoob, son of Roshan Din, resident of Himachal Pradesh was arrested on spot and a case vide FIR No. 79/2021 under Section 188 of IPC and 11 of PCA Act was registered at Police Station Ghagwal.
Similarly, in an another incident, the police party also rescued 17 more bovines at Naka NH Tapyal which were being transported in a truck (JK13A-7659) towards Valley. The bovines were rescued however, driver managed to escape from spot taking advantage of darkness. A case vide FIR No. 80/2021 under Section 188 of IPC and 11 o f PCA Act was registered at Police Station Ghagwal.
